Mavericks assign Josh Green to Salt Lake City Stars in NBA G League

Green has appeared in 17 games for the Mavericks this season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game.

On Wednesday, the Dallas Mavericks announced that they have flex-assigned first-round pick Josh Green to the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League. Green will join rookie teammate Tyler Bey with the Stars in the bubble.

Green, who was the 18th overall pick, has appeared in 17 games for the Mavericks this season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game. He has not played with the Mavericks since logging five minutes on Feb. 4.

The Mavericks opted against fielding a team in the G League bubble but can still assign roster players using the flexible assignment and two-way transfer rules.

Green this season has logged five starts but has since fallen out of the rotation. Green averaged four points and 4.2 rebounds in 21.5 minutes in the starting lineup.

The opportunity to send Green to the Stars can be highly beneficial for his development and training this season in order to receive consistent playing time.

The Stars play next on Thursday vs. the Raptors 905 at 11:30 a.m. EST.
