Matthew Stafford has one of the strongest arms in the NFL. It’s been that way since he was drafted first overall by the Lions in 2009.
And thankfully, it doesn’t seem the injection he got in his right elbow has had any negative effect on his arm strength. Despite the ongoing questions about Stafford’s elbow and the health of his arm, Cooper Kupp sees no difference in the quarterback’s throws from last year compared to this season.
After practice Wednesday, Kupp was asked how Stafford’s looked.
“Man, he’s doing great,” Kupp said. “He’s doing really good. The ball’s coming out of his hand really nicely, got the same pepper on it. Still hauling the ball down the field, so everything looks good on my end.”
Stafford has dismissed any concerns about his elbow, as has Sean McVay. The veteran quarterback has really ramped up his workload recently, too, playing more than 70 snaps in the team’s scrimmage last week and participating fully in Wednesday’s joint practice with the Bengals.
There’s no doubt he’s going to be fine for Week 1 against the Bills in two weeks, and fans should expect to see him uncorking deep balls as usual.
