Matthew Judon is arguably the most valuable New England Patriot this season.

After recording a sack in the 14-10 gritty win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, he tallied 12.5 on the season — which is one behind the team record of 13.5. It’s been 13 games. Judon is by far the best free agent signing in the NFL this year and he’s changed the complexion of this defense.

That’s why every Patriots fan gasped while seeing him injured late in the fourth quarter against the Bills while tackling Devin Singletary. Judon eventually got back into the game and finished it out, and that was clearly a positive sign.

During his post-game interview, Judon confirmed that he’s okay and that it was a slight rib injury that stemmed from Dont’a Hightower’s helmet.

“Yeah, how I came down his helmet was just in my rib. Lost my breath a little bit,” Judon said. “I tried to get up, get back to the line of scrimmage, but I really couldn’t breathe. But I’m OK. I’m OK.”

The Patriots dodged a bullet on that one.

Damien Harris left the game with a hamstring injury and Adrian Phillips left with a knee injury — the status of both key players is still unknown.
