The Atlanta Falcons lost their ninth game of the season on Sunday, a 20-17 loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers due to some uncharacteristic late-game interceptions from quarterback Matt Ryan.
Following the game, Ryan, who was about as angry as you’ll ever see him on the sidelines, was asked about his future in Atlanta.
“I’ve got plenty left in the tank,” Ryan said. “I’ve just got to play better.”

Ryan hasn’t said anything negative about offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, but there’s clearly some frustrations brewing on that side of the ball. The Falcons and Chargers seemed to both be trying to lose at the end of the game.
At one point during the fourth quarter, there were three combined interceptions during an 11-play stretch. Ryan threw three interceptions on the day, but the final two really put the team in a bad position. The forgettable day put a damper on Ryan breaking Peyton Manning’s passing yard total through his first 13 seasons.
Ryan didn’t seem to want to celebrate himself on a day where he passed one of the NFL’s most statistically-prolific passers of all-time. He did say it was nice to be mentioned in the same sentence as Manning.

Raheem Morris had the most to lose on Sunday, as the loss drops the Falcons interim coach to 4-4. After the game, Morris wasn’t about to throw Ryan under the boss, standing by his 13-year veteran QB.
Raheem Morris: I have a lot of confidence in Matt Ryan, I have all the backing in Matt Ryan that you can possibly have. #Falcons

One benefit from Sunday’s loss is that Atlanta will at least be moving upin the 2021 draft order, but the future seems truly up in the air for the first time in a while.
