The New York Giants have been entertaining all of the available candidates for their head coaching position lately, but one primary name — Baylor head coach Matt Rhule — has yet to be interviewed.
Rhule is on vacation in Mexico at the moment and is supposed to meet with the Giants this week.
From Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post:
Matt Rhule is leaving behind the sun to find out if his future is brighter in the NFL.
Rhule is expected to interview for the Giants’ head coach vacancy as soon as Tuesday, The Post confirmed. He emerged as the early favorite simultaneous to Pat Shurmur’s firing Monday but coached Baylor in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday and then took a short vacation to Mexico.
Rhule, born in New York City, has long been a fan of the Giants and their head coaching job even though he just worked one year here back in 2012 under Tom Coughlin.
Reached out to a league source about Baylor HC Matt Rhule. Strong belief the #Giants are his “dream job”

Rhule is on record praising Giants general manager Dave Gettleman, who he will meet with this week. But as we have learned, Gettleman is not the one he has to impress. The Giants’ head coaching committee consists of four voices — Gettleman, assistant general manager Kevin Abrams and co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch.
Back in late December of 2017 I interviewed Matt Rhule and the #Giants and Dave Gettleman did come up. Matt praised Dave calling him first class and a football man.

There is a groundswell of rumors surrounding all the candidates, including the possibility of Bill Belichick leaving New England for East Rutherford, but for my money Rhule still has the inside track.
