The news of Carson Hocevar joining Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series created an opening in one of the best trucks in the NASCAR Truck Series. Hocevar will leave the No. 42 truck for Niece Motorsports vacant after the 2023 season as the team chases a Truck Series title. However, a replacement has already been announced by the organization.
[autotag]Niece Motorsports[/autotag] announced on Thursday morning that [autotag]Matt Mills[/autotag] will drive the No. 42 truck on a full-time basis in the Truck Series starting in 2024. Mills has never been full-time in the Truck Series but ran well in his select starts with Kyle Busch Motorsports. Most notably, the 26-year-old driver finished in fifth place at Richmond Raceway.

Mills also drove full-time for B.J. McLeod Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in previous years but this will certainly be his best opportunity yet. The No. 42 truck has proven to be one of the best in the field and could bring Mills to new levels on the race track. Overall, this is a solid move for both sides as Niece Motorsports will get a look at Mills as a driver.
