Matt House tabbed as top 10 defensive coordinator in college football

LSU’s Matt House earned high praise after a strong first year.

LSU defensive coordinator [autotag]Matt House[/autotag] had a strong first year in Baton Rouge. He helped keep Bryce Young in check and against Ole Miss, his unit shutd own Lane Kiffin’s offense in the second half.

After getting an extension and a raise last month, House is now earning more praise with On3’s Matt Connolly ranking him as the sixth-best defensive coordinator in the sport.

“The Tigers went from being ranked No. 64 in total defense in 2021 to No. 41 last year in House’s first year,” Connolly wrote.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] got a good one with House, whose last college coaching experience was at Kentucky before taking a position coach job with the Kansas City Chiefs.

LSU’s lucky to keep House after at least a couple of programs evaluated him for head coaching roles. With another good year, House could be right back in those discussions.

The good news for LSU: Kelly’s track record of hiring defensive coordinators is a good one.
