Matisse Thybulle reveals Sixers have been doing group yoga sessions

Matisse Thybulle says the Philadelphia 76ers are having group yoga sessions to stick together.

The outbreak of coronavirus has left the NBA in suspension since March 11 and has players sitting at home in self-quarantine in order to help flatten the curve and get everybody back to some normalcy. Some players still have to have some contact with their team and that is no different for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Rookie Matisse Thybulle, who has found some interesting ways to fight off boredom such as making TikTok videos, says the Sixers are still keeping in touch through video chats and such. It is the only way to have any type of social life during this time.

Thybulle had a phone conversation with The Athletic and he says the team is having group yoga sessions to remain active during this time.

Thybulle said:

We haven’t done as much. We’ve done Yoga classes together and mental training stuff in groups and class settings. I think a lot of the lifting has been mostly just on your own or like a one-on-one basis if you’re given strength coaches.

Why the yoga sessions, specifically?

With the group team stuff, it’s a mindfulness, like a guided mindfulness session and then – for me personally, just because we have so much time now, I feel like for me I wanted to use it as something positive and productive. Everyone says that there’s stuff that they always wished they could be doing if they had more time, and I’m free to do that. So every morning I’ll wake up and do some form of meditation. Like I said, I try to mix things up so I stay engaged.

It can be tough to keep a positive mindset during a time such as this one where it feels like things are not going well at all, but a group session such as these ones can help in that regard. [lawrence-related id=29021,29013,29005]
