The Philadelphia 76ers made one trade before the deadline on Thursday when they sent Matisse Thybulle to the Portland Trail Blazers in a four-team deal that brought them Jalen McDaniels from the Charlotte Hornets.
Thybulle spent 3.5 seasons with the Sixers, becoming one of the top defenders in the league and wreaking havoc on opponents. His offensive game lagged behind his defensive abilities, but he was still a very useful player.
As Thybulle heads to the Blazers, he posted a video on his Instagram account to say goodbye to Sixers fans. It’s a video of him going to his mural in the Fishtown section of the city and writing “Thank you” with spray paint.

The Sixers will miss Thybulle and his defensive ability, but the hope is that McDaniels can do the same and provide some offense. McDaniels becomes a free agent in the offseason. The deal also brought the Sixers below the luxury tax line.
