Marcus Davenport goes on Vikings’ injured reserve list, won’t play vs. Saints in Week 10

Marcus Davenport will miss at least the next four games with the Minnesota Vikings after being placed on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday, meaning he won’t get to suit up when the New Orleans Saints visit the Vikings in a few weeks. They could also be without all-star wide receiver Justin Jefferson if he isn’t able to return.

One of the Saints’ biggest draft busts of the last decade, Davenport only appeared in four of Minnesota’s first six games (missing the first two weeks with an ankle injury) before going down with a new ankle sprain in the Vikings’ Week 6 win over the Chicago Bears. He’s suffered injuries to both legs this season.

Injuries were problem for Davenport with the Saints — he only played in 67 of their 89 games from 2018 to 2022, including the playoffs — but he had been effective on limited snaps with Minnesota. He had a pair of sacks and four tackles for loss in four games prior to this latest injury. But he won’t get a chance at a revenge game against the team that drafted him.
