Malcolm Brogdon: ‘I think we have a really good shot’ to win Banner 18

‘I really believe we have the talent, I think we have the coaching,’ said Brogdon.

Even with longtime Boston Celtics broadcaster Mike Gorman trying his best to temper expectations on a recent radio hit, you will not find veteran Celtics floor general Malcolm Brogdon shrinking from a bold claim about Boston’s postseason ceiling.

On an episode of ESPN’s “NBA Today,” he suggested winning it all in 2023 is the only goal the Celtics care about this season: “That’s our goal.”

“That’s the expectation – make it to the finals, to win a championship this year, to get Banner 18 for this organization,” the former Virginia player said in the interview. “I really believe we have the talent. I think we have the coaching.”

“And I think at this point, this team has the experience, so I think we have a really good shot,” he added.

Describing the Celtics as “a team that’s coming off of a finals run that’s very solidified” where “the guys know their roles” and the roster is “a well-oiled machine,” Brogdon is in as good a position as he has ever been to make such a bold prediction into a reality.

But first, the Celtics need to get back to the NBA Finals this season — and get the best possible seeding they can with the rest of the 2022-23 regular season to make it as smooth sailing as is possible.
