Texas appears to be making a late surge in the recruitment of five-star edge Colin Simmons.
Over the last couple weeks, recruiting networks have seemingly been split between LSU and Texas as the landing spot for Simmons. In the last few days, however, the Longhorns have gained serious momentum.
Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports reported on Wednesday that the “majority of the intel is starting to really favor Texas,” for Simmons. However, LSU and Miami are very much still in the thick of it.
Simmons is Texas’ top priority target for the 2024 cycle at a crucial position of need. If the Longhorns land a commitment from the nation’s No. 1 edge, it would be the biggest recruiting win for Steve Sarkisian’s staff outside of Arch Manning.
The Duncanville native is set to announce his commitment on Thursday, Aug. 10.
