Mac Jones: Adding Odell Beckham Jr. not my decision ‘but we’re not opposed to it’

Mac Jones say he’s open to Patriots adding Odell Beckham Jr.

The New England Patriots are one of many teams that could end up being in play to land former Cleveland Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr., if the receiver clears waivers.

His salary is prohibitively high for New England to claim him, but if no team nabs him off waivers, then the receiver will enter free agency, where he can sign with any team for any price. Considering he’s still getting paid by the Browns, there’s a chance Beckham will take a discount to work for a contender. New England, on a three-game winning streak, is beginning to show they’re just that. And the team’s quarterback Mac Jones has suggested he’s open to adding Beckham.

“I think Odell’s a great player. I definitely watched him growing up. Obviously, that’s not my decision, but we’re open to have whoever wants to come here and help us win,” Jones said on WEEI on Monday. “You’ll have to ask people with higher knowledge than me on that one, but we’re not opposed to it at all.”

New England has receivers Nelson Agholor, Kendrick Bourne, Jakobi Meyers and N’Keal Harry. Harry is dealing with an injury, which led the team to promote Kristian Wilkerson from the practice squad in Week 9. It seems like Beckham, whose stint with the Browns was largely unimpressive, could make an impact for the Patriots passing game.
