LSU’s updated 2022 class rankings ahead of signing day

Tigers in a good spot as signing day approaches

LSU has a class of 25 additions and is still looking to add up to seven more players to the 2022 class. Brian Kelly and the staff have done a good job of adding both high school signees and a top transfer class for the upcoming season.

As signing day approaches, we take a final look at the recruiting rankings for the Bayou Bengals.

What 247Sports Says…

Part of the reason for LSU’s small class under first-year coach Brian Kelly is due to a dozen players signed out of the transfer portal. Four-star Will Campbell (offensive tackle) and Walker Howard (quarterback) are both ranked in the top 50 overall for incoming freshmen in the 2022 cycle. –Brad Crawford, 247Sports

When you factor in the transfers to the 2022 class, it looks much more impressive for the Tigers and Brian Kelly. They have added almost as many transfers as high school signees. The team looks to be reloading rather than rebuilding this squad.

LSU still has a few moves they are looking to make with top prospects.

  • Harold Perkins, Linebacker
  • Jacoby Mathews, Safety
  • TreVonte’ Citizen, Running Back
  • Caleb Douglas, Wide Receiver
  • Danny Lewis Jr, Tight End

After adding the 12 transfers, the team has seven spots still available to be filled for the 2022 season. They could look to add a couple more transfers during the spring. This will allow the staff to have a better evaluation of the team and where they are still lacking.
