LSU’s record-setting kicker declares for the NFL draft

Cade York tweets his intentions of going to the NFL.

Another member of the 2019 CFP national championship team announces his intentions of going pro. On Saturday evening, LSU Tigers record-setting kicker Cade York announced he would forgo his remaining eligibility and declared for the 2022 NFL draft.

York set the LSU record against the Florida Gators in the fog in 2020, helping the team avoid their first losing season since 1999. Against the McNeese Cowboys, he set the Tiger Stadium record for the longest field goal in the first half of that game. York would later break his own record in the second half of that game.

He now looks to the NFL and there are plenty of teams that could use his services. York finished this season converting 83.3% of his field goals. His career number sits at 81.8%. He also was a perfect 39-39 on extra-point attempts after also converting all 36 in 2020. York’s career extra-point percentage finishes at 97.6%. He missed four attempts in his freshman season.

York said his goodbyes in a tweet.

One of the best kickers in college football won’t be back in Baton Rouge next season, but the McKinney, Texas native leaves with no regrets. He was a fan favorite and will likely become a fan favorite in the NFL as well.
