The LSU Tigers (2-2) travel to The Plains this weekend to face the Auburn Tigers (3-2) in the latest installment of the Tiger Bowl.

These two SEC rivals have met a total of 54 times, with LSU leading the series 31-22-1.

LSU and Auburn first met all the way back in 1901 when Auburn won 28-0. LSU would win the second meeting, shutting out Auburn 5-0. In fact, nine of the first 11 meetings between these schools ended in a shutout, with LSU winning six of those meetings.

LSU holds the longest winning streak in the series, having won six straight between 1926 and 1937.

These two schools have played every year since 1992, and it is a rarity for both teams to be unranked entering the game. The last time both LSU and Auburn were unranked was in 2001 when LSU won 27-14.

LSU won the three previous meetings, including a 23-20 battle last season in Baton Rouge, LSU’s closest game.

Heisman winner Joe Burrow completed 32 of 42 passes for 321 yards and a touchdown. Burrow also scored a rushing touchdown in the win.

This week’s game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff.
