LSU women’s basketball’s Angel Reese, Mikaylah Williams earn SEC weekly honors

Angel Reese was named the SEC Player of the Week, while Mikaylah Williams earned Co-Freshman of the Week honors.

LSU’s [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] has been named the SEC Player of the Week after a 2-0 slate that featured decisive wins over Alabama and Arkansas. [autotag]Mikaylah Williams[/autotag], meanwhile, has been named the SEC’s Co-Freshman of the Week.

Reese put together a pair of double-doubles in the wins, recording 20 points and 16 rebounds against the Tide and 16 points with 17 rebounds against the Razorbacks. Williams scored 14 and 21 points in the two games, nearly recording a double-double in the latter with nine rebounds.

She’s been one of the top freshmen in the country and was named to the midseason watch list for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award.

The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday night as the host undefeated No. 1 South Carolina. ESPN’s College GameDay will be in attendance with the show beginning at 6 p.m. CT ahead of tip-off at 7.
