While the LSU women’s basketball team is still trying to climb its way out of the No. 7 spot in the AP Top 25, the coaches are a bit higher on Kim Mulkey’s squad.
It ranked No. 5 last week, and after taking down a top-10 opponent in Virginia Tech in its only competition this past week, LSU is moving up in this week’s USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
The Tigers have now moved up to No. 4, sitting behind South Carolina, UCLA and the Iowa team that it defeated to win a national title last season. The Gamecocks and Bruins are undefeated, though the Hawkeyes do have one blemish on their resume.
LSU sits at 8-1 on the year but is riding an eight-game winning streak since falling to Colorado in its season opener. It will look to extend that streak when it returns to the court on Sunday to host Louisiana.
