LSU remains No. 5 in Amway Coaches Poll

The LSU Tigers didn’t move in the Amway Coaches Poll this week.

When the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports was released on Sunday, the LSU Tigers hadn’t moved from their spot at No. 5.

The Clemson Tigers remain No. 1 after moving to 2-0 on the young season with a 49-0 win over Citadel.

Alabama remains No. 2 while Oklahoma and Georgia are tied at No. 3. With LSU coming in at No. 5, the SEC has three of the top five teams in the country.

Florida is ranked No. 6 and Auburn comes in at No. 8. The SEC has five teams ranked inside the top 10 and Texas A&M comes in at No. 11.

Tennessee falls four spots to No. 21, while Kentucky drops out of the top 25.

Amway added Big Ten teams back into the poll this week after the official announcement that the league would begin play in October.

Clemson received 44 first-place votes, while Alabama and LSU received one first-place vote. The returning Ohio State Buckeyes received two first-place votes.

LSU opens its season on Saturday against Mississippi State.
