LSU head coach Ed Orgeron asked to testify before state Senate committee

Orgeron has until Tuesday to respond.

A Louisiana state Senate committee has formally requested for LSU head coach Ed Orgeron to testify at an April 8 hearing after the testimony of Gloria Scott, who said she was sexually harassed by then-Tigers running back Derrius Guice.

Orgeron has until Tuesday to respond.

The testimony from Scott brought about questions as to whether or not Orgeron lied to investigators looking into LSU’s shortcomings in handling sexual misconduct reports.

The university released a statement on Friday that said Orgeron “never had any direct communications with the complainant” and that the coach “has and will continue to follow university protocols regarding reporting.”

Orgeron said on Tuesday in his weekly appearance on “Off the Bench”  that “I truthfully do not remember speaking with Ms. Scott three years ago. But I do know Ms. Scott deserves to be heard and admired for her courage. I have been, and I will continue to be committed to a culture of integrity and compliance.”

Orgeron did not elaborate on or speak any further on the allegations in a press conference with reporters.
