Tigers freshman running back John Emery Jr. would score the final touchdown of the game on a six-yard run with 3:59 left to make the score 63-28.

Burrow finished the game 29-of-39 for 493 yards and seven touchdowns.

The hype around this game mainly focused on the Tigers and their quest for a championship. But during the offseason, Hurts had transferred to Oklahoma from Alabama and was a Heisman Trophy candidate.

But the  Tigers’ defense was too much for Hurts and the Sooners offense to handle. In contrast, the LSU offense wore down the Oklahoma defense early in the game with their quick drives and put the game away at the half.

The win moved LSU into the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship game, where they defeated the No. 2 Clemson Tigers 42-25 to capture their fourth title in program history.
