Ole Miss’ reign as the College World Series Jell-O Shot Challenge record-holder lasted just one year.
Fans of the eventual national champions nearly totaled 19,000 shots in the challenge, which is hosted every year by Rocco’s Pizza in Omaha. But this year, a group of fans from the bayou donning purple and gold had something to say about that.
We had LSU as the heavy favorite in this year’s challenge in our odds (which we completely made up) and Tigers fans did not disappoint.
Not only are they demolishing the rest of the field, but on Monday afternoon, they broke the record set by Ole Miss, reaching an unbelievable 21,435 shots purchased.

While the Tigers already had a massive lead entering the day, Raising Cane’s founder Todd Graves stepped in ahead of Monday night’s game against Wake Forest to get LSU across the finish line.

The last team to win the challenge — and set the record in the process — went on to capture the College World Series title. LSU will hope the same holds true this time around as the program aims to win its seventh national championship and its first since 2009.
