The Tigers’ stay in the rankings — their first since the preseason polls in 2021 — was short-lived.
LSU entered Saturday’s game against No. 8 Tennessee with a tenuous No. 25 ranking in the AP Top 25, and after a 40-13 loss, it unsurprisingly dropped out of the poll. The Tigers received just four votes this week after a loss in which they never really looked competitive.
They have the opportunity to reclaim some momentum next week as they travel to play a Florida team that has had its fair share of troubles but still sits at 4-2. Though LSU has won three straight against the Gators, winning a night game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is always going to be a challenge.
The tough stretch continues with a game against No. 9 Ole Miss at home before the Tigers have a bye to prepare for Alabama on Nov. 5.
