LSU came up short in what was the most important game of the season, losing 42-28 on the road against Alabama.
The loss ends any outside chance LSU had of reaching the College Football Playoff, and it likely also ends the Tigers’ chances of returning to Atlanta as SEC West champions for the second year in a row.
LSU was one of the biggest fallers in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll, falling to No. 19. The dip wasn’t quite as large in the AP Top 25, and the Tigers remain in the top 20 this week.
