LSU became a late player in the recruitment of four-star Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove athlete [autotag]PJ Woodland[/autotag].
Coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and Co. didn’t offer him until May 16, but they’ve apparently made a fast impression on the 2024 prospect.
On Thursday, Woodland announced that he was down to just two schools: LSU and in-state Mississippi State. Ranked as the No. 356 player in the nation per 247Sports, the 5-foot-11 prospect likely projects as a cornerback.
LSU has a lot of ground to make up here. The Bulldogs have long been the favorite, receiving a pair of Crystal Ball predictions back in February and March. They also lead for Woodland per On3 by a wide margin at 94.2%.

The Tigers have clearly become a factor in the race, but it seems likely that Woodland will be heading to Starkville.
