According to a report by Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Lakers have “significant concern” in adding Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving. Amick’s report was put together after interviewing NBA executives and gathering information from other sources within the league.

Irving is currently serving a suspension from the Nets for tweeting a link to a movie containing antisemitic material and refusing to apologize when initially interviewed about the tweet. Irving has since apologized and deleted the tweet, but must still serve the suspension until the Nets feel that they want Irving back with the team.

Irving is currently in the last year of a 4-year, $136.5 million contract that he signed with the Nets as a free agent in 2019. The seven-time all star is averaging 26.9 PPG and 5.1 ASTs while shooting 45.3% from the field.
