Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with expert MLB picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Dodgers (21-14) open a 3-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers (19-15) Monday at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Dodgers vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting of 2023. Dodgers won the season series 4-3 in 2022.

The Dodgers won 5-2 in 10 innings at the San Diego Padres on Sunday Night Baseball. It’s a tough turnaround as the Dodgers didn’t arrive on their United Airlines charter flight until 4:23 a.m. ET, putting them into the team hotel just before sunrise. Ouch, MLB schedule maker.

Los Angeles has picked up 8 victories in the past 9 games, although it is just 2-3 in the past 5 games on the road.

The Brewers also were on the west coast Sunday, snapping a 6-game losing skid with a 7-3 win at the San Francisco Giants. The Brew Crew arrived back in Milwaukee at a much more respectable 12:20 a.m. ET, and they get to sleep in their own beds.

Dodgers at Brewers projected starters

RHP Tony Gonsolin vs. RHP Freddy Peralta

Gonsolin (0-0, 3.38 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 1.50 WHIP, 5.6 BB/9 and 4.5 K/9 in 8 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 13-4 home win vs. Philadelphia Phillies last Monday
  • Allowed just 2 H and 3 BB with 1 K in 3 1/3 scoreless IP in his only previous road start against the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 26 in his regular-season debut

Peralta (3-2, 3.63 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.27 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 10.6 K/9 in 34 2/3 IP innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, 3 BB, 10 K in 3-2 road loss vs. Colorado Rockies Tuesday

Dodgers at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 4, Dodgers 2

Moneyline

The BREWERS (-115) are worth a look in this series opener, as Peralta hasn’t allowed much of anything at home this season. Peralta has 3 quality starts in his 4 home outings overall, including a win against the Detroit Tigers in his most recent home showing on April 26.

The Dodgers are certain to be a little sluggish after the red-eye flight to Milwaukee from San Diego. The Brewers had a little more sleep, and that will be the difference.

Run line/Against the spread

The Brewers +1.5 (-190) are just slightly out of my personal limit of -180 for a standalone bet.

Milwaukee has failed to cash as the favorite in 5 consecutive outings, and it is just 2-11 in the past 13 games on the run line as a favorite, but it gets the run of insurance on Monday.

The Dodgers have won 3 in a row as underdogs, cashing on the run line in each of the outings.

Over/Under

The UNDER 8.5 (-105) is my favorite play on the board, mainly due to the jet lag factor.

The schedule maker was especially tough on the Dodgers, as they’ll literally be in Milwaukee for just about 14 hours prior to first pitch.

The Under is 4-1 in the past 5 series openers for the Brewers while going 4-1-1 in the past 6 home games. The Under is 10-4-2 in their past 16 home games vs. RHP, too.
