The Los Angeles Dodgers (44-34) take on the Colorado Rockies (31-50) in the 2nd of a 3-game set Wednesday at Coors Field. First pitch is at 8:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Dodgers vs. Rockies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: Dodgers lead 3-0
The Dodgers took the series opener in a rare 5-0 shutout at Coors Tuesday with LHP Clayton Kershaw allowing 1 hit over 6 scoreless frames with just 2 strikeouts and DH J.D. Martinez hitting his 300th career homer. The Dodgers have won 5 of 6 after a rough stretch as they’re 9-11 over the last 20. Los Angeles sits 3 games back of the NL West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Rockies have traded wins and losses over the last 4 games, but they’re just 5-15 over the last 20. OF Kris Bryant (heel) is set to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday and his return should help a team that is 3rd-worst with 0.89 home runs per game. The Rockies are 18-21 at home but just 4-16 against divisional opponents.

Dodgers at Rockies projected starters
TBD vs. LHP Kyle Freeland
The Dodgers are going with a bullpen game Wednesday and have not announced who will open the game.
- Los Angeles’ bullpen is 26th in MLB with a 4.64 ERA but 7th with 309 strikeouts
- RHP Michael Grove, who was recently demoted to the bullpen, figures to see action in this game. He went 0-2 with an 8.10 ERA in the rotation but threw 2 scoreless innings in his first relief outing Friday.
Freeland (4-8, 4.54 ERA) makes his 17th start. He has a 1.40 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and a 5.6 K/9 over 85 1/3 IP.
- Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 9 H, 2 BB, 3 K Friday against Los Angeles Angels.
- Last 5 starts vs. Dodgers: 2-2, 5.33 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 30 K in 27 IP
- Better at home: 3-2 with a 3.42 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 vs. 1-6 with a 5.92 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 3.3 K/9 on the road

Dodgers at Rockies picks and predictions
Prediction
Dodgers 6, Rockies 5
Moneyline
The Rockies are resilient. The Angels clobbered them 25-1 Saturday in the worst loss in the history of the franchise, but they came back the next day and won 4-3.
The Dodgers are banged up, and their bullpen has been awful. After just 3 hits Tuesday, I look for the Rockies to come out swinging. Freeland is from Colorado and has always been able to navigate the thin air. He has beaten the Dodgers in his last 2 matchups against them at Coors, allowing 3 ER in 6 IP each time.
I’m not ready to anoint this Rockies team as the winner, but I love them ATS Wednesday.
PASS.
Run line/Against the spread
Freeland has not won in his last 7 starts, but he has kept teams to 3 ER or fewer in 4 of them and 3 of those outings were at Coors.
The Dodgers are scoring 3.8 runs per game over the last 10 outings. Again, I think Colorado could win this game, but I’m just not quite willing to throw down on it.
I LOVE giving Colorado two runs here. Take the ROCKIES +2.5 (-120).

Over/Under
The wind is blowing in at 14 mph with a mid-80s temperature in Denver. I feel like the books are overreacting just a bit to the pitching matchup. Freeland has a sub-4 ERA at home, and Colorado is 18th at 4.47 runs/9. The Over is just 3-7 over the last 10 games between these teams. The Under is 5-0-2 in the Dodgers’ last 7 road games.
Take the UNDER 12.5 (-110).
