Milwaukee Brewers centerfielder Lorenzo Cain took advantage of some defensive rust from the Chicago Cubs and delivered the craziest play of the 2020 season so far on Saturday.
Cain was on second base with one out, and he took off for third on a sharply hit grounder from Ben Gamel. Unfortunately for Cain, the ball was hit directly to shortstop Javier Baez, who had Cain caught in a rundown.
Baez seemed like he may have simply been able to run down Cain for the tag, but threw the ball off to Kris Bryant, and Cain continued to scramble in between second and third base while Gamel ran all the way to second.
Cain, however, found a way to escape. With no Cubs standing on either second or first, Cain pointed at Gamel to run back to first, and managed to get himself back to second while the Cubs stood around the bag. Gamel was able to make it all the way back to first, and the Brewers got out of the rundown with two men on base.

Later in the inning, Cain scored a game-tying run on a single from Eric Sogard.
