Looking into LSU football’s options at wide receiver without Ja’Marr Chase

LSU star receiver Ja’Marr Chase opted out of the 2020 season. Which players could move up the depth chart and earn a starting role in 2020?

2. Racey McMath

At the second outside receiver spot, senior Racey McMath has been raved about during camp. He has been utilized multiple times over the course of his career, but has yet to have a breakout year. That could change in 2020 with the team now losing their star receiver.

McMath is a speedy receiver that can get open and break tackles in any situation. He is exceptional in catching deep passes, but is more dangerous in short-pass situations. In 2019, McMath caught 17 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns.

His numbers will certainly increase this season as he is the most likely option for the second wide receiver spot given the great impressions he has given the coaching staff during fall camp.
