The Washington Commanders improved to 4-5 after Sunday’s 20-17 win over the New England Patriots. In true Washington fashion, the Commanders kept the Pats in the game, despite dominating offensively, by making a few critical mistakes.
Fortunately for Washington, it had quarterback Sam Howell. While there was one throw Howell would love to have back, he was phenomenal in the win. Howell completed 29 of 45 passes for 325 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Anytime the Commanders needed a lift, Howell delivered, and his touchdown pass to Jahan Dotson in the third quarter was clutch.
Washington finished with 432 yards of total offense and rookie defensive back Quan Martin sealed the win with an interception of New England quarterback Mac Jones in the waning seconds to give the Commanders their fourth victory.
