Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is back to his care-free nature this offseason. It’s that nature that helps him improvise and perform at his best.
A picture captured at spring practice gave a window into the confident vibe he’s giving off to his teammates. The swagger is a good indication of where the quarterback is heading into a crucial season for his school and his head coach.
Confidence comes from preparedness and experience. Ewers gained plenty of experience as a starter last season, but at times looked lost. Growing pains that are typical of freshmen quarterbacks were compounded by Ewers missing the 2021 season of football by enrolling early at Ohio State. With that, the Southlake product lost a year of development and repetitions at the position.
According to head coach Steve Sarkisian, Ewers is looking more decisive and has more command of the offense. After passing through last year’s struggles, the big-time prospect could be set to give Texas control of the Big 12 in 2023.
