While much of the attention has centered around transfer quarterback Quinn Ewers this week, Texas still has a talented signal-caller anxiously waiting to get to Austin.
Four-star quarterback Maalik Murphy has seemingly been overlooked recently, as his lack of experience and film have many viewing him as a developmental quarterback at the collegiate level.
With proper development under head coach Steve Sarkisian, Murphy could have a very successful career on the Forty Acres. He’s physically gifted with an extremely strong arm and big frame.
Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee recently visited Murphy for an in-home visit prior to early signing day. At nearly 6-foot-5, Murphy certainly looks the part.

Murphy’s loyalty to Texas and willingness to recruit other talented prospects to join the 2022 class is admirable.
He is rated the No. 9 quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class and the No. 15 overall prospect in the state of California, according to 247Sports.
