Caleb Downs was sensational in his first season of college football. The true freshman led the Crimson Tide in tackles and seemed poised to be a leader and all-time star in Tuscaloosa. However, he is now on his way to Ohio State, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
The Buckeyes land Downs via the transfer portal, which opened up for the rising sophomore after Alabama head coach Nick Saban retired. His retirement is likely the reason why Downs wanted to leave Tuscaloosa in the first place.
Many believed that Downs would follow Travaris Robinson to Georgia. Robinson served as Alabama’s cornerback coach for the last two seasons. He recently accepted the job as the Bulldogs’ co-defensive coordinator.
