LOOK: Famed Michigan basketball alum and NBA hall of fame finalist at Crisler

The Wolverines had one of their famed alumni in attendance on Sunday.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — One of the Wolverines famed former members made his way back to Crisler Center on Sunday afternoon to take in Michigan’s turn hosting the Indiana Hoosiers.

A Hamtramck native who played in Ann Arbor from 1967-70, Rudy Tomjanovich was drafted No. 2 overall by the then-San Diego Rockets. He played in the NBA until 1981 and was selected as an NBA All-Star five times.

Once his playing career was over, he turned to coaching, and led his professional league alma mater, now in Houston, to two NBA Championships in 1994-95.

Tomjanovich also coached the Los Angeles Lakers for two seasons, in 2004-05.

He is a finalist for this year’s NBA hall of fame class.
