The status of Bears nose tackle Eddie Goldman has been one of the offseason’s biggest storylines, especially considering he failed to report for mandatory minicamp last month, where he dubbed an unexcused absence.
It certainly didn’t help when one report indicated that Goldman “could be weighing retirement,” which would certainly come as a shock considering Goldman is just 27 and in the prime of his career.
But there’s some encouraging news on the Goldman front as he was spotted back in Chicago working out less than three weeks before the start of training camp.
SPEAR Training shared a video on Instagram showing Goldman putting some work in at their facility in Vernon Hills, which should certainly have Bears fans breathing a sigh of relief.

Goldman has been a huge part of the success of Chicago’s defensive line over the years, where he’s done a lot of the dirty work in the trenches that often goes unnoticed. Particularly, he’s been a dominant run stopper, which was something the Bears struggled with when Goldman opted out last season due to COVID-19 concerns.
While Goldman is back in Chicago and working out, there’s still no guarantee he’s a lock to report for training camp. But it’s still more encouraging than not at this point.
