Just when all hope seemed to be gone, the improbable happened.
The Wolverines found themselves in a dogfight late, just mere seconds left on the clock, as Houston seemed to be on the brink of eliminating Michigan from the NCAA Tournament in the second-round.
Then, a true freshman stepped up, cementing himself a maize and blue hero. As Jordan Poole received the quick pass well beyond the three-point line, he splayed his legs and heaved. Down two, if this wasn’t spot on, Michigan was headed back to Ann Arbor in defeat.
But, as said, the improbable happened. The true freshman displayed nerves of steel, and the ball went careening through the basket.
This is why March Madness exists — when it can.

Poole’s shot ensured another game, but the Wolverines would have four more, advancing to the Final Four and then the national championship game on what seemed like an unlikely run. Yes, Michigan lost to Villanova in San Antonio, but Poole’s heroics might have been the highlight of the tournament, regardless of what the maize and blue — or any other team — did from there.
Given that the country is in lockdown due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, if you’re looking for something to do for a few hours, you can relive that iconic moment in history from two years ago, by rewatching the entire game (or skipping to the end — your prerogative).
