Leaked merchandise photos from sports retailer Academy suggests that the Houston Rockets have a light blue uniform set coming this season.
David Hardisty of ClutchFans had reported that the team’s new “City jersey” would be released next week. While the jersey itself has yet to be formally introduced, the replica player shirts typically mirror the design.
Houston introduced new, space-themed City jerseys for the 2019-20 season, but it appears that this blue set will replace those for the 2020-21 campaign. Like the white City uniforms from last season, the blue version will have “H-Town” across the front, according to the leaked photos.
The light shade of blue shown in Friday’s photos would also seem to mesh with a previous leak of the 2020-21 City jersey’s shorts.

For a team with red as the primary color throughout most of its history, the choice of light blue certainly draws attention. The Rockets briefly had navy blue uniforms in the late 1990s, but this represents the secondary color from that era, rather than the primary.
The Rockets will also be losing Nike’s version of the Classic uniforms, which were in place last season as a one-year tribute to the 25th anniversary of the 1994-95 title team. In all, they should have four jersey sets: the red Icon; white Association; black Statement; and blue City.

Some might say Oilers inspired but the Rockets 96-2003 also used these colors. https://t.co/TMOGoOnB5P pic.twitter.com/nUeIhLcuff
