Lonzo Ball out for Pelicans with left hip flexor soreness vs. Kings

Lonzo Ball will miss his third game running on Monday as the Pelicans take on the Kings. Ball remains out with a sore left hip flexor, an injury that has kept him out now three straight games including Monday.

Prior to Monday’s game, Pelicans head coach Stan Van Gundy addressed Ball’s injury and how close he is to a return.

“He said he’s making progress,” Van Gundy said. “He’s not ready to play tonight but he is feeling better.”

The Pelicans had back-to-back games on Sunday and Monday and will have games on Wednesday and Friday, providing him ample opportunity to make his return this week.

Ball, Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson have not played together in the same game since March 18. If Ball is unable to return this week, it would officially be at least a month since the trio played together.

Despite that, New Orleans is 24-29 and are just one game out of the 10th seed in the Western Conference Finals.
