The full Texas football schedule was released on Thursday.
The Steve Sarkisian era will kick off on Sept. 4 in Austin against Louisiana. Although the Rajin’ Cajuns have a talented squad and cannot be overlooked, Texas should squeak by their trio of nonconference opponents.
The Longhorns will once again open conference play with Texas Tech. After the overtime scare last season, Texas should be ready to come out strong. However, Sarkisian’s team will experience a tough stretch of games through October.
Former head coach Mack Brown always mentioned how important the week before and the week after the Red River Shootout are to the program. It’s easy to overlook an opponent prior to a rival game, just as easy as it is to be hungover from the game the week after.
