After months of anticipation, the Texas Longhorns have begun construction on a new practice facility. On the Longhorn Network on Tuesday, Longhorns Athletic Director Chris Del Conte said construction is expected to be completed in May 2026. The latest update from Del Conte is encouraging news, as the project has already been delayed by a year.
The new facility will be located on the south end of Royal-Memorial Stadium. At the moment, the Longhorns practice at Denius Fields, which usually requires coaches and players to take a bus to and from practice. While the new location will be easier for many, that is not the only change coming.

Additionally, the complex will feature an indoor and outdoor football practice field. It also means the return to natural grass at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns have been using turn since 2009 after switching from natural grass.
According to Front Office Sports, the project will cost around $70 million. There will also be an underground parking garage so athletes can “park their Lambos,” said Del Conte. With the practice facility projected to be done in about five months, the Longhorns will cross a significant item off their checklist. It will also provide players with a better year-round experience as they build on their impressive start in the SEC.
