Longhorns men’s basketball ranked in AP Top 25 poll

Heading into the 2024-2025 campaign, Texas is ranked as the 19th-best team in the country

With the college basketball season just around the corner, the Associated Press released its top 25 poll, and the Longhorns made the cut. Heading into the 2024-2025 campaign, Texas is ranked as the 19th-best team in the country. After finishing last season with a 21-13 record, they will look to build on their success in a competitive conference.

In the latest poll, eight SEC teams are in the top 25. That list includes Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, and Ole Miss. If the Longhorns can perform well in SEC play, a conference title could come to Austin.

While an SEC title will be one of the Longhorns’ goals, their main focus will be making a deep run in March Madness. They have made the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament the last three seasons. Their national championship run ended last season with a loss to Tennessee in the Round of 32.

This season, the Longhorns will be led by a group of talented veterans, which includes Kadin Shedrick, Chendall Weaver, and Devon Pryor. They will get help from transfer portal additions Jordan Pope, Tramon Mark, and Jayson Kent.

With a roster that is loaded with talent, the Longhorns are ready to prove their doubters wrong and move up in the national rankings.
