Updates, highlights

Packers inactives: Matt LaFleur’s team will be without cornerback Jaire Alexander and rookie defensive back Javon Bullard, and receiver Malik Heath and offensive lineman Jacob Monk are healthy scratches. Kenneth Walker III, Seattle’s dynamic running back, is out with a calf injury.

Jacobs powers opening drive TD: The Packers gave the ball to No. 8 on eight straight plays to open the game, and Jacobs finished off the 10-play drive with a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Jacobs gained 44 total yards, Jordan Love completed both passes and the Packers got 15 free yards on an unnecessary roughness penalty. Terrific start. 7-0.

Third down sack: Welcome back, Edgerrin Cooper. The rookie linebacker blitzed on third down and took down Geno Smith to end Seattle’s first drive. Cooper also had a tackle on the kickoff. He had missed the last three games with a hamstring injury.

Packers go up 14-0: It’s ALL Packers early. Green Bay drove 80 yards in eight plays and scored on Romeo Doubs’ 13-yard touchdown catch. Josh Jacobs had a 19-yard run. Jayden Reed had three touches. The Packers are rolling.

Another third down sack forces field goal: The Seahawks approached the red zone, but Kingsley Enagbare delivered a tackle for loss on second down and Rashan Gary finished off the drive with a sack on third down, forcing a 48-yard field goal from Jason Myers. It’s 14-3.

Packers respond with field goal: The Packers got a third-down conversion from Dontayvion Wicks and a 36-yard catch from Christian Watson to set up a field goal from Brandon McManus.

Red zone pick: On 3rd-and-9 from inside the red zone, Eric Wilson won as a blitzer and pressured Geno Smith into a poor throw, and Carrington Valentine picked it off in the end zone to end a scoring threat. It’s still 17-3. Huge play for the Packers defense.
