List of 49ers on Injured Reserve

The 49ers’ list of players on IR continues growing.

The 49ers’ Injured Reserve list is starting to resemble a playoff-caliber roster.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan on Thursday said defensive lineman DJ Jones would go on IR, making him the 16th player to go there for the 49ers this season.

Here’s a list of all the players on IR for the 49ers, including Jones, although that move hasn’t been made official at press time. Players in bold are eligible to return to the active roster:

LB Kwon Alexander
DL Ronald Blair III
TE Garrett Celek
OT Shon Coleman
WR Marquise Goodwin
CB Tim Harris
WR Jalen Hurd
OL Andrew Lauderdale
DL DJ Jones
RB Jerick McKinnon
DL Damontre Moore
WR Shawn Poindexter
C Weston Richburg
DL Kentavius Street
WR Trent Taylor
CB Jason Verrett

There could be a minor change to this soon with Street’s practice window already open. He’d be the logical replacement for Jones’ roster spot if the coaching staff deems him ready after a second week of practice.

Teams can return two players from IR per season as long as they were on the initial 53-man roster.  Players returning from IR are eligible to return to practice after six weeks, and they can play in games after eight weeks.

Shanahan has effectively ruled out returns for Hurd and Taylor, so Verrett would be the only other player who might come off IR down the stretch.
