Lions use Browns’ pick no. 12 to select Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs

The Lions have used the Browns’ original pick to take the Alabama running back.

Pick no. 12 in the 2023 NFL draft, which started in the hands of the Cleveland Browns before the Deshaun Watson trade, has switched hands twice tonight. First, the Houston Texans traded it to the Arizona Cardinals, then Arizona traded it to the Detroit Lions. The Lions, however, did not trade the pick. Instead, they select Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs with pick no. 12.

Gibbs is my second-ranked running back behind Bijan Robinson, who went to the Atlanta Falcons with pick no. 8, and my 28th overall prospect in the class. It is a bit of an odd pick for the Lions who have needs elsewhere on the defensive side of the football.
