Lions QB Matthew Stafford’s status ‘in doubt’ for game vs. Titans

Losing Stafford would be a huge blow to the Lions’ offense.

The Detroit Lions could potentially be without starting quarterback Matthew Stafford for the Week 15 game against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium.

According to NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Stafford is dealing with a painful rib injury that he may not be able to play through. However, he has not yet been ruled out.

Should Stafford be forced to sit out Sunday’s contest, backup signal-caller Chase Daniel would take his place. Daniel has played in two games this season but has yet to make a start.

Over five career starts with the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears, Daniel has posted a record of 2-3.

This is obviously a huge development for the Titans, as the Lions’ offense would be seriously downgraded without Stafford at the helm, and as we know Tennessee’s Achilles’ heal has been defending against the pass.

The Titans and Lions will kickoff at noon CT on Sunday. It was originally scheduled to be broadcast on FOX, but the NFL announced the game will now be shown on CBS.
