Lions inactives vs. Eagles: Ragnow will play, Okwara and Melifonwu out

Frank Ragnow will play but Julian Okwara and Ifeatu Melifonwu are joined by 3 rookies on the inactive list

There was a little more aniticpation than usual for the Detroit Lions to release their inactive player list for Week 1. With Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow officially listed as questionable with a groin injury, a lot rode on the inactives list.

Ragnow will be active for the game and is expected to start.

The expected inactive list took a detour when the team placed DT Levi Onwuzurike on injured reserve on Saturday. Onwuzurike was previously ruled out for Week 1, as was projected starting RG Tommy Kraemer. With Halapoulivaaati Vaitai also on IR with a back injury, Kraemer’s own back injury prevented him from getting the start as “Big V’s” replacement.

Kraemer is joined on the inactives list by two players who have battled injuries all summer, S Ifeatu Melifonwu and DE Julian Okwara. Three rookies, CB Chase Lucas, TE James Mitchell and DT Demetrius Taylor, round out the inactives. The three rookies are healthy scratches.
