Lions have pre-draft meeting with Florida WR Kadarius Toney

Toney can play wide receiver, running back and return specialist

The Detroit Lions offense sorely needs playmakers on the perimeter as they approach the 2021 NFL draft. One of the most dynamic playmakers in the class is Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney, and the Lions are already well-versed in the Gators wideout.

Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Toney has already met with the Lions among other teams.

The fit makes sense for both parties. Toney lit up the SEC as an athletic weapon for Florida. In 2020, he caught 70 passes for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns while also running the ball 19 times for 161 yards and a score. The 5-11, 193-pound Toney also returned a punt for a touchdown.

While Fowler projects Toney as a first-rounder, most contemporary mock drafts have Toney still on the board when the Lions make their second-round pick at No. 41 overall.
