Link Jarrett discusses ‘unique’ Florida State head coaching rumors

Notre Dame head coach Link Jarrett discusses ‘unique’ Florida State head coaching rumors.

Notre Dame (39-15) defeated No. 1 Tennessee (56-8), 8-6, Friday in game No. 1 of the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Super Regional.

Following the game, Notre Dame head coach Link Jarrett met with media and was asked about not letting Florida State rumors be a distraction during the Knoxville Super Regional.

Florida State parted ways with head coach Mike Martin Jr. on Friday.

Jarrett played at Florida State (1991-94) and served as an assistant with the Seminoles (2003).

“I mentioned it today, I said ‘I love you guys,'” Jarrett said of the Florida State head coaching rumors. “We’re here to win this. I’m not talking about this coaching stuff. I’m talking about Notre Dame and the University of Tennessee and that goes for in here, too. There are distractions and that’s a unique one. I wanted them to know that because it is out there.

“I love the way these guys play and I’m not talking anymore. I have no idea what’s going on down there. That coach was my roommate and a good friend of mine. My focus is 100 percent on this, this team and then trying to find a way to win one of his last two games. That’s it.”

Jarrett also discussed Notre Dame’s performance against Tennessee.
