Lincon Riley goes on The Rich Eisen Show to discuss Caleb Williams’ NFL mentality

USC didn’t have a great 2023 season. Is Caleb Williams still the real deal? Lincoln Riley thinks so.

It was “Media Monday” for USC head coach Lincoln Riley. The leader of the Trojan football program performed a series of conversations with high-profile sports talkers. Riley went on The Jim Rome Show and The Pat McAfee Show. He also went on The Rich Eisen Show as well. One of the highlights of his Rich Eisen appearance was an exploration of Caleb Williams’ NFL mentality.

If you followed the 2023 USC football season closely, you know that the pieces of the puzzle didn’t generally fit for Caleb Williams, especially not in the latter half of the season in which the Trojans lost five of their last six games. Most of the problems for USC were on defense, but the offense had its share of struggles. Caleb Williams threw three interceptions at Notre Dame in an ugly loss, but a lot of the problem for Caleb was that USC’s offensive line took a significant step back from 2022. Another problem was that USC’s receivers didn’t get open in 2023 the way they did in 2022 with Jordan Addison destroying opposing secondaries.

People want to know if Caleb Williams is the real deal. Lincoln Riley is convinced he is. The NFL draft occurs in two and a half months. Everyone is waiting to see if the Chicago Bears take Caleb as the top pick in the draft or trade him to another team.
